The First Lady

On this past Saturday, The First Lady delivered her first commencement speech to the first graduating class of the University of California at Merced. The University of California at Merced surrounds a community that has been devastated by home foreclosures and a community where the unemployment rate is at 20%. During a time where people in this community may have being feeling a little hopeless, The First Lady brought along with her some inspiring words.

“Remember that you are blessed. Remember that in exchange for those blessings, you must give something back. You must reach back and pull someone up. You must bend down and let someone else stand on your shoulders so that they can see a brighter future.”

So true…Check out the video below for a snippet of The First Lady’s commencement speech.

I love The First Lady as well Ebony and I also strongly believe that on this journey that we call life, we should all help someone along the way. Thanks for visiting A Word For My Sistas!
