Desiree Rogers

Desiree Rogers is not stranger to success. With a track record of notable accomplishments, Desiree is not only bringing beauty and style along with her to the “White House,” she is committed to instilling pride. President Elect Barack Obama appointed Desiree late last year as “White House Social Secretary,” becoming the first African-American to hold this position. Desiree is featured in next month’s issue of “Vogue” magazine and she opened up to “Vogue” about her “White House” duties. The folowing is an excerpt:

The mandate the Obamas have given her, Rogers said, “is about instilling pride.” Her job “is helping people visualize what the Obama presidency is about, the feelings Americans voted for—inclusion, transparency, embracing people you might never otherwise learn about—and also translating the splendor, that sweetness, that comfort of the White House to everyone.” She paused and smiled. “Enormous task.”

I can't wait to see what Desiree introduces to the Washington set.
She is a "home girl" who emanates style and class.

If you have not noticed, Vogue has been including women of color in their last four issues.
