Jurnee Smollett

Jurnee Smollett has an acting career that has spanned well over a decade. With movies such as”Eve’s Bayou,” “Roll Bounce,” and “The Great Debaters” under her belt, Jurnee has assured her presence in Hollywood. Focusing her efforts on changing the lives of others, Jurnee created a $2 million dollar scholarship for students at Wiley College. Wiley College, one of the oldest historically black colleges, was the real life setting for the movie “The Great Debaters.” Her efforts don’t stop there; Jurnee is also on the Board of Directors of “Artist for a New South Africa (ANSA).” According to its website, ANSA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating the African AIDS pandemic and advancing democracy and equality in South Africa. ANSA also works to further civil rights and safeguard voting rights in the U.S. You can best believe that Jurnee Smollett will continue to be a trail blazer on the big screen as well as in her humanitarian efforts.
