According to their website, tonight, BET profiles four regular African Americans: two men and two women. One of the men and one of the women are HIV-positive. Viewers get a peek into their worlds – what they do for work and fun, their passions and dreams – and are challenged to try and guess which two of the four are living with HIV.
In the final act, the characters reveal their status and talk, with inspiring openness, about their relationship with the disease. ARE YOU POSITIVE? confronts the stereotypes that people – particularly Black Americans – still hold about HIV, who it affects and why.
