My condolences go out to Jennifer Hudson and her entire family. The senseless murders that occurred on Friday claiming the lives of Jennifer’s mother and brother has brought devastation to the Englewood community and to the city of Chicago that can be felt across the world. As a native of the South Side of Chicago, I know all to well of the violence that plagues our communities. Senseless murders occur here all the time and the last senseless murder is just as painful as the next. Though I did not know the Hudson family personally, what I have learned from the media coverage here in Chicago is that they were a family that loved their community and their community loved them. With Jennifer’s fame and fortune, she offered to move her family out of the Englewood community, but her mother wanted to stay in they community where she loved. That fact in itself speaks highly of the type of person Jennifer mother was. The people in the Englewood community, the people in Chicago, and the people across the world continue to pray for the Hudson family and pray for the safe return of Jennifer’s nephew, Julian King.
